Join us for an evening of scheduled film screenings with California-based artist Lana Z. Caplan. The artist invites us to view four short videos, including the premiere of her newest piece, Errata, which explores a meditation on leisure, work, and time. Screenings at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.
Lana Z. Caplan is a photographer and video artist whose work investigates the notion of place through experimental digital techniques inherent to the technology she uses. Caplan’s manipulated realities shift time, space, and ultimately re-contextualize the locations portrayed in her pieces. Her works have been exhibited internationally at institutions and festivals, including Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City, Anthology Film Archives in New York, and Experiments in Cinema in Albuquerque, among others. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Director’s Prize at Black Maria Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Crossroads Film Festival in San Francisco. Caplan is currently an Assistant Professor of Photography and Video at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Downtown at Sundown is in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCASD) and Stone Brewing Co. on the third Thursday of every month from 5 to 8 PM. Check the MCASD website for details about each month’s activities.
