University Environmental Health and Safety Requirements
Introduction and Overview
San Diego State University strives to maintain a working environment that provides for the safety and wellbeing of employees, students and the surrounding community. The university is committed to complying with all applicable local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
In compliance with the California Code of Regulations Title 8, Section 3203, a comprehensive "Injury and Illness Prevention Program" was prepared and implemented at San Diego State University. Occupational health and safety hazard control programs and procedures have been developed and implemented in conjunction with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The Injury and Illness Prevention Program elements include the designation of a responsible person and identification of a system for:
- Communicating with employees on matters concerning safety and health;
- Identifying, evaluating and reducing workplace hazards;
- Implementing procedures for injury/illness investigation;
- Mitigating hazards in the workplace;
- Training employees; and
- Maintaining records.
Links to required forms necessary for compliance are below. It is the responsibility of each program within the School to perform this self-audit and return it to Jim Cavolt or Todd Partridge.
