David Hewitt's Biography

David Hewitt was born and raised in southern California. He received his BA and MFA degrees from San Diego State University. David has been a Lecturer at SDSU since 2000, teaching painting, drawing, and photography; and has served as the Graduate Adviser for the past two years. Prior to this, he was the publications director at the San Diego Museum of Art for eleven years, overseeing the production of exhibition and permanent collection catalogues, including--Deborah Butterfield, The Prints of Harry Sternberg, Latin American Drawings Today, Faberge: The Imperial Eggs, and California Cityscapes, many of which were distinguished with national and international design awards. David’s work has been exhibited in group exhibitions at the Headlands Center for the Arts (Sausalito), the Fine Arts Gallery at CalState Los Angeles, and the Cannon Art Gallery (Carlsbad). Most recently his work was shown in a two-person exhibition at the Keller Art Gallery at Point Loma Nazarene University.
