All Together Now

Gemstones and grass
Sondra Sherman, The Gemstone Apothecary: RC-Poppy, 2020; aluminum, digital print on aluminum, unakite; 5 x 5 x 1/2 inches; courtesy of the artist.

Comprised of artwork created by 32 tenured faculty, lecturers, and staff members of the School of Art and Design, All Together Now is on display in the University Art Gallery. The artworks included in the exhibition represent multiple disciplines and consider themes relating to personal histories, social structures, pandemic experiences, and visual art as a means of expression.

The show’s title directly references the pandemic and our ability to all be on campus this semester, while at the same time acknowledging that the school has not had an exhibition focusing on current faculty and staff on campus in many years. Offering an opportunity for communal celebration, All Together Now is the first public exhibition to take place on campus since March 2020.

All Together Now is organized by the SDSU Art Galleries. The exhibition and events are sponsored by the School of Art + Design and the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts.
