Biographical Information
David Hewitt was born and raised in southern California. He received his MFA degree from San Diego State University.
He has been a Lecturer at SDSU since 2000, teaching painting, drawing, and photography; and is currently the School of Art and Design's Graduate Advisor .
Prior to this, he was the publications director at the San Diego Museum of Art for eleven years, overseeing the production of exhibition and permanent collection catalogues, including–Deborah Butterfield, The Prints of Harry Sternberg, Latin American Drawings Today, Faberge: The Imperial Eggs, and California Cityscapes, many of which were distinguished with national and international design awards.
Hewitt’s work has been exhibited in exhibitions at the Headlands Center for the Arts (Sausalito), the Fine Arts Gallery at CalState Los Angeles, and the Cannon Art Gallery (Carlsbad).
