Biographical Information
Heather Roessler is an emerging artist, educator, and activist within her own community, focusing primarily on creative expression as a self-reflective tool for exploration and healing. She graduated from CSUSB with a BA in Psychology and Studio Art in 2015, and with an MFA in Studio Arts & Design in 2018. Heather is also Program Coordinator for the Prison Arts Collective, with experience as a teaching artist across multidisciplinary arts curricula and a training mentor for incarcerated arts facilitators since 2014, at 8 of the 13 prisons within the program. She is a multidisciplinary artist but primarily works with organic material in various states and compositions. Her practice focuses on seeking to understand what it means to be alive through personal observations and confrontations with mortality and death, while also exploring the self through analysis of psychology, the workings of memories and trauma, and existential philosophy.
