Bio
As a painter and a printmaker, much of Neil’s fine art has focused on the human condition and the human figure. His work has been exhibited internationally. His most recent work consists of large-scale portraits of homeless people near his studio in San Diego, which he has entitled “Invisible People”. They have been exhibited in galleries and museums through out the country. One of these portraits was part of a year-long exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery In Washington DC.
He grew up the son of a military officer living in Europe, the Far East as well as several parts of the U.S. His father and his travels fostered his interest of art.
He studied painting and printmaking at San Diego State University before attending Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design on a full scholarship. He graduated with honors and was selected to be the first graduating commencement speaker in the school’s history. He then moved to New York City where he began his career in fine art. While there he also worked as an award-winning illustrator, working for a variety of clients including many Fortune 500 companies.
