Chitra Gopalakrishnan is a Graphic Designer/Painter with double MFAs from the ESAG Penninghen in Paris, France (2004), and the Cranbrook Academy of Art (2009). She is the co-founder of Kara Weaves, a fair-trade certified social enterprise from India. She is currently based in San Diego where she teaches at San Diego State University and a Faculty Associate at the Prison Arts Collective, a California-based non-profit working in social justice. She maintains a painting practice that revolves around figurative and surrealist narratives on motherhood in contemporary American society. Her full portfolio of work is at www.chitraaa.com
