Biographical Information
Garrick Oliver is an Architect with over 20 years of experience in a wide variety of architectural typologies. As a founding principal of obrARCHITECTURE, he has designed residential, mixed-use, commercial, K-12/higher education, historic, and civic projects throughout California and the San Diego region. Some of his work within the public realm includes projects at UCSD, numerous campuses for San Diego Unified School District, Pacific Sky School in Del Mar, and Liberty Station.
Garrick is also a graduate of the SDSU School of Art and Design, which is influential in the way he approaches his work, and how obrARCHITECTURE was formed. Architecture, art, and event are inseparable parts of his firm and his work. His office is a gallery that hosts local artists, art shows, and other community-focused events. Hosted artists donate pieces, which are auctioned at obr’s fundraising events, where the proceeds end up being used to support local arts education initiatives, including obrEDUCATION.
Through education and his other teaching experiences, Garrick has developed a passion for youth exploring their creative process and for creative storytelling through design. He believes that students with strength in creative problem solving can succeed in many career pathways, and will be an asset to our greater communities.
